Continuing to Stay Connected

Prior to my first year in education and before the world shut down, I really did not think too much about being a connected educator or being heavily tech savvy when it comes to being a classroom teacher. Yeah, I knew it was important but I did not have the means to accomplish the goals of being a connected teacher who knew all the tools and the best apps. I also did not have the technology in my classroom to do so. But deciding to go back for my Master's has helped me see how I am able to accomplish these goals way more easily then I ever could have thought. Also, my new district has completely embraced the usage of technology in the classroom so I am now better able to put what I am learning out into a real-world setting.

When it comes to being a connected educator, I can definitely say I have grown. I know there is great importance in staying connected and learning from others. When I do dive into Twitter, I love what I am able to consume I am able to see how these wonderful teachers and thinkers alike share and do awesome things in their classrooms. I have had a few mini inspirations already and so far they have all been little mini successes in my classroom. When I first saw the Twitter Chat assignment, I absolutely dreaded it. I really did not want to have to post that many times in an hour, but once I was in I was hooked. I really did like the fast past and the constant exchanges between other educators and being able to share my opinion. It was honestly really fun and insightful.

To continue my course of being a connected educator, I am going to continue to grown and expand my PLN on Twitter and possibly a few other places. I will definitely continue to read books but no longer just read and keep my thoughts and opinions to myself but actually branch out and share with others. That will be my goal to continue to be a connected educator.
